And relax...

Hello and happy hump day everyone,

If you are in University/College or still in school odds are you are currently having the most un-relaxing easter break going, am I right? I cant be suffering alone! Well even if I am all alone in this or you are stressed by work or general life, here are a few things that help me beat the stress and chill.

1. Take a walk.

Being stuck at a desk typing a away, staring at a screen, or reading millions of articles/emails will not do stress any good. Your eyes get tired and if you are anything like me you panic at how much you need to do. So take a break, doesn't have to be long if you are really working to a tight deadline. The majority of my breaks at uni are popping to the Tesco down the road for motivation food or taking a trip down the canal/park at home. You get a bit of fresh air and you'll soon get a level head, plus if you did go get motivation food you have a treat to spur you on to finish. If you are revising and can't really go for a walk as you have loads to do (and the weather is reasonable) take your revision to the garden. I am a massive fan of sunbathing in the garden doing revision, it also means you'll start getting your tan ready for summer (just remember to keep applying suncream). If the weather isn't too great so a walk/sunbathing isn't the best idea go for a short drive, sit in a car park, or pop to a super market (again motivational food is a godsend). Either way, just out of your house, bedroom, or bed.

2. Have a bath.

There is nothing more relaxing than a nice smelling bath full of bubbles. Radox do a wonderful range of bubble baths that are aimed to help you feel restored (feel relaxed is a personal favourite). This is definitely a cheap option (around £1-5 depending where you shop). They last a long time but if you want to really spoil yourself and have the perfect 'me' time bath, go to Lush Cosmetics. They have the 'lushest' smelling bath bombs, shower-gels, shampoos, that will leave you feeling like a new person. You'll feel your stress melt away as you watch the bath bomb fizzing its way around the water and soon you'll even forget what stress is. Some favourites from their range are Twilight (which is designed to help aid a peaceful nights sleep with its lavender scents), and the Big Blue (designed to calm you and think of the seaside with its arame seaweed ingreadient). Teamed with my all time favourite Daddy-O shampoo you will be smelling of relaxation hours after your bath as well as having soft skin and healthy looking hair.

3. Go for a drink.

After doing my dissertation on drinking to cope with stress, I am not at all condoning that you drink purely to help your stress. However, meeting some friends, having a catch up and having a drink or two in a chilled bar could make you forget about all the stress for a while. If it helps brief your friends before saying you cant discuss uni/work stress, this will make it so much more relaxing and you will be able to forget about everything for a few hours. They say laughter is the best medicine and providing you don't drink so much that you wake up with a horrible hangover, you should be able to get back to your work/revision with a clear and happy head.

4. Finally, MUSIC.

We all have songs that make us feel sassy, happy, sad, and angry, right? So why not build a playlist of stress busting songs? Get on Spotify, even ITunes and playlist away. Fill it with songs that make you happy or some relaxing meditation music. Whatever floats your boat. I find when I am really stressed I like belting my heart out to some power ballads or my favourite songs and a few tracks in I feel like the stress has just melted away. If you need any inspiration, a few songs that help me destress are 'Go Your Own Way' by Fleetwood Mac and 'Power of Love' by Huey Lewis & The News. I also find having a little dance around can also be enough to 'shake it off'. Get up on your feet and kiss goodbye to that stress that kept you bed bound.

I hope this has helped any of you who are currently stressed, and I hope you don't remain stressed for too much longer. Good luck to any of you doing dissertations, revising for exams, or last minute assignments right now. We are all in the same boat and we will all get through it. Have you got any stress busting tips that help you feel relaxed? let me know what they are.

See you Sunday,

Love Katie x
